Ingredients:

  1. 1 packages - yeast
  2. 5 tablespoons - warm water
  3. 3/4 cups - shortening
  4. 3 cups - wheat flour
  5. 2 cups - white flour
  6. 5 teaspoons - baking powder
  7. 1 teaspoons - baking soda
  8. 2 teaspoons - salt
  9. 3 tablespoons - sugar
  10. 2 cups - buttermilk

Directions:

Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
Blend remaining dry ingredients with a pastry cutter.
Combine yeast with buttermilk then add dry ingredients, making a stiff dough.
Store dough in refrigerator.
Roll out necessary dough and cut. Place on ungreased cookie sheet in COLD oven. Bake at 450° until brown, probably 10-12 minutes, but maybe longer with cold dough and cold oven.
