Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth. Be careful not to overmix.

Add Boiling Water:
Slowly pour in the boiling water and stir gently. The batter will be thin, but this ensures the cake will be moist and fudgy.

Bake the Cake:
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake:
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto wire racks and let them cool completely before frosting.

Prepare the Frosting:
In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder, alternating with milk, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, then beat until fluffy.

Assemble the Cake:
Once the cakes have completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous layer of frosting on top. Add the second cake layer and cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting.

Decorate and Serve:
Optionally, decorate the cake with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or any other toppings you prefer. Slice and serve to enjoy!
