Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole

Ingredients:

  1. 6 - sweet potatoes cooked, peeled, cut in 1/2-inch slices
  2. 3 - thinly sliced apples
  3. 1/2 cups - brown sugar
  4. 1 teaspoons - cinnamon
  5. - grated lemon peel
  6. - dash of cloves
  7. 1/2 cups - water
  8. - butter slices, for topping

Directions:

Boil sweet potatoes, peel and cut into 1/2-inch slices.

Meanwhile, cook apple slices in water until tender.

Drain and lay alternate layers in buttered baking dish.

Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon peel, cloves, and water. Pour over layered potatoes and apples.

Dot generously with butter and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
